Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

Childcare Celebration

*Written by Alyssa Wright – Media and Marketing Manager at Trident Early Learning.*

We just love to celebrate special events at Trident Early Learning, particularly when families can get involved. Each year, we develop special calendars of events full of family activities, special days, and fundraising opportunities.

In the 23 years that Trident has been in operation, we have celebrated a huge array of events and activities. When we develop a new calendar, we try to come up with new and exciting ideas for the year ahead. But we always make sure to keep the classics - those special days that everyone knows and loves.

We value family togetherness and quality time at our services and wanted to make that the main focus of our big events. So, each year, we host many major events that families can get involved in, such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, Kindergarten Graduation and Christmas Parties.

Even though some events are aimed at a particular person or group of people, we do not like to exclude any child or any family. To ensure that everyone feels welcomed, we invite everyone along to these events: mothers, fathers, siblings, aunties, uncles, grandparents, step-parents, cousins, friends, godparents, everyone!

These special family events are wonderful for many, many reasons, such as:

  • Children can show the special people in their lives where they come to learn and play.
  • Families can become more familiarised with our services and operations.
  • Families and educators can get to know each other better in a relaxed environment.
  • Children can introduce families to childcare and kindergarten friends and their families.
  • The centre will feel like a close-knit community.
  • Families can see what the children have been up to through photographs, displays, artwork, and evidence of room projects.

Family events also provide us with the opportunity to take photos of families together. We display these photos proudly throughout our rooms so the children can look at them whenever they feel sad or want to show their educators or friends who is special to them.

Throughout the year, we host additional events to provide more opportunities for family togetherness. Sometimes these events and celebrations are room specific, e.g., kindergarten responsible pet ownership incursion, and sometimes they are whole-centre celebrations, e.g., when the Easter Bunny visits for our egg hunt.

We also embrace special celebrations and days of observance that are important to our families, staff, and community, including cultural and religious holidays. Every year, you will find events such as Diwali, Chinese New Year, Nowruz or NAIDOC Week, just to name a few.

By incorporating multicultural events, celebrations, cultures, and traditions throughout our programs, we can ensure that all children and families feel safe, valued, and respected. It also provides us with opportunities to teach children about multicultural perspectives, promote cultural awareness and help children value cultural diversity.

We encourage families to submit ideas or provide feedback on previous years when we are developing our new calendars so we can ensure we are recognising and meeting the needs of each and every family that attend our services.
